Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional: Forms Design

You’re already familiar with paper forms: documents with blanks that people fill in and deliver to the appropriate person or organization. An Adobe PDF form is a computer-based version of a form, which can either be distributed through email or CDs, or published on a website. PDF files can be designed as interactive forms streamlining the process of filling out a form and of collecting form information. Forms are created using either Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional or Adobe LiveCycle Designer (included with Acrobat Professional). Filling in a form can be done in either Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. In this 3-hour short course we'll explore the different types of PDF forms available, the pros and cons of using templates for forms creation versus designing a form from scratch, creating a form and finally, collecting and managing form data. We will learn how to convert paper forms to interactive PDF forms, adding text fields, check boxes and buttons, and then distribute the forms. We'll look at how to track and manage forms. Finally, we'll explore the use of Adobe LiveCycle for form design using one of the many templates available, or "from scratch."

Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional: Editing PDFs

PDF files are not like other document formats, in which you can freely copy, paste, and move text and images on a page. Instead, consider a PDF as a snapshot of your original file. In this 2-hour short course we’ll learn how to use Acrobat 8 Professional to touch up and enhance PDFs for readability and distribution. Specific topics covered will include opening and examining documents; moving pages with thumbnails; adding and editing text on pages; editing links; deleting pages; renumbering pages; creating and working with bookmarks and articles; editing images and reducing file size.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with Windows, word processing basics and completion of Adobe 8 Pro Getting Started or equivalent knowledge.
Instructor: Staff, CITES Training Services
Hours:
2
Fee: $39

Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional: Collaboration Tools

You can conduct reviews for many types of documents by sending out a PDF version for others to review, or by posting a PDF to a shared server. Reviewers can add their comments to the PDF using commenting and markup tools and then send, or upload, their comments. In this 2-hour short course we will learn how to prepare for a PDF review, how to use the commenting and markup tools, and how to use a stamp or create a custom stamp.
