Developing Web Design Using Cascading Style SheetsHave you wondered what all the talk regarding Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
is about? Have you wanted to redesign your web site to go from the use
of tables to cascading style sheets, but were afraid it would cause more
problems? This 8-hour course will help to inform and expose you to basic
CSS concepts, whether you want to convert a table-based website layout
to CSS or you simply want to learn or understand CSS. Hands-on
activities will include:
Introduction to Windows Server 2008 Active Directory at UIUCIn this solid overview of the UIUC Active Directory (AD), you'll learn how and why AD uses DNS, and get an overview of AD security and authentication. Learn to create and manage computer accounts in your organizational unit (OU), and effectively manage your OU structure. Pick up some tips and tools for troubleshooting, and you're on your way!
Implementing Group Policy in the UIUC Active DirectoryGroup Policy provides directory-based desktop configuration management. In the UIUC Active Directory, you can use Group Policy to define configurations for groups of users and computers. With Group Policy, you will be able to specify settings for registry-based policies, security, software installation, scripts, folder redirection, remote installation services, and Internet Explorer maintenance. This 12-hour workshop is designed for UIUC Active Directory OU administrators.
Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with Transact-SQLThis one-day course provides an introduction to the MS Transact-SQL query language and detailed, hands-on experience writing SELECT queries. This course should be attended by those who are in a position to write or understand / modify existing SELECT queries. We will use MS SQL Server 2008, but the concepts apply to all relational databases. Attendees will learn about the structure of the Transact-SQL query language; the ways that queries may be issued to MS SQL Server; how to write and troubleshoot SELECT queries; how to work with date, time and string character data formats; how to group data and perform statistical summarizations; how to construct sub-queries to break down complex queries; and how to use standard table joins to retrieve data from multiple tables.
Maintaining a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 DatabaseThis 3-day course is intended for IT professionals needing the knowledge and skills required to maintain a SQL 2008 database. New features covered include policy-based management, security auditing, the data collector & resource governor. At the completion of this course, students will be able to install and configure SQL Server 2008, manage database files and filegroups, backup and restore databases, manage security, automate administrative tasks and troubleshoot and tune SQL Server.
Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting ServicesThis three-day instructor-led course teaches students how to implement a Reporting Services solution in an organization. The course discusses how to use the Reporting Services development tools to create reports, and how to use the Reporting Services management and administrative tools to manage a Reporting Services solution. Topics covered will include learning how to describe SQL Server Reporting Services and its components; create a Reporting Services report; enhance a Reporting Services report; create and manipulate data sets; use report models to implement reporting for business users; configure report publishing and execution settings; implement subscriptions for reports; administer Reporting Services; and implement custom Reporting Services applications.
Implementing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to successfully implement Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) version 3.0 in their organizations. Attendees will learn the importance of thinking about the architecture of their entire environment, including business and application needs, during the planning and deployment phases. The course covers how to perform a clean installation of WSS 3.0 and also describes all the prerequisites required to select the most appropriate method for upgrading WSS from 2.0 to 3.0 in a specific scenario. In addition, the course focuses on how to manage WSS after it is configured.
Implementing Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007This three-day course provides students with knowledge and skills required to implement Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 At course completion attendees will be able to describe MOSS 2007; plan for and design a MOSS 2007 implementation; deploy and administer MOSS 2007; implement a portal solution, a content management solution, and a business intelligence solution, and a search and indexing solution with MOSS 2007; and maintain and optimize MOSS 2007.
Fundamentals of Network SecurityThis four-day, instructor-led course, designed for administrators who are responsible for the day-to-day administration of Microsoft Windows systems, provides attendees with the knowledge and skills to begin supporting network security within an organization. Students who complete this course will be able to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, and help respond to and recover from security incidents. Although the course focuses on Microsoft product- and technology-specific implementation of security concepts, many of these same concepts can be applied to other technologies.
