Adobe Illustrator CS3
(also applicable for users of earlier versions)
No, you dont have to be a graphic artist to
effectively use Adobe Illustrator, even though graphic artists have made Adobe Illustrator
the "industry-standard" illustration software package.
If you do desktop publishing, or need to create documents for print or
Web delivery, youll find that Illustrator offers unmatched flexibility in creating
your layouts. Illustrator may be the only software tool you need to create
professional-looking brochures, flyers, Web pages, and more.
The Level 1 workshop introduces the basics of Illustrator. In addition to
creating a graphic logo, you'll learn how to use special type effects (gradients
and "type on a path"), work with imported graphics, and work with body type in
an overall layout.
Note: This list of topics covered may be slightly
revised once the final version of the Level 1 workbook becomes available from our
publisher later this fall.
Among the topics to be covered are: |
- Navigating in Illustrator & working with the toolbox
- Creating documents utilizing CMYK or RGB color models (and
gamuts)
- Working with the shape tools
- Drawing paths with the pencil tool
- Formatting an object's "fill" and "stroke"
- Working with brushes, swatches, and libraries
- Utilizing the navigation, appearance, and transform palettes
- Adding and formatting type
- Using the pen tool to create and modify paths
- Applying graphic styles
- Creating special type effects
- applying gradients to type
- placing type on a path
- applying an envelope to distort type
- wrapping text
- Exporting Illustrator files
- Adding body type
- placing and positioning body type with bounding boxes
- formatting type with styles
- inserting glyphs
- Exploring the Adobe Bridge environment (as time allows)
