MATLAB (short for Matrix Laboratory) is a high-performance language for
technical computing. It integrates computation, visualization, and programming
in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in
familiar mathematical notation. Typical uses include Math and computation
algorithm development, data acquisition modeling, simulation, prototyping, and
data analysis. In this short course we will introduce you to the user interface
and the conventions that must be followed when using MATLAB, then explore the
powerful graphical system embedded in the MATLAB environment. Finally we’ll give
you the basic tools needed to program simple and advanced scripts and functions
in MATLAB.
Prerequisite: There are no technical prerequisites for this class. We
assume that you have never opened MATLAB before, and that you have no
programming background. A basic familiarity with linear algebra is helpful,
but is not required to understand this course.
